International Driving Permit

Indian citizens who wants to drive motor vehicle in Foreign countries and wish to drive a vehicle there, your Indian Driving Licence is valid, provided it is accompanied by an International Driving Permit (IDP). This IDP is issued by the RTO and has a maximum validity of one year from the date of issue, or up to the expiry date of your driving licence, whichever is earlier. There is a huge list of countries that recognise IDP as a legal source to drive/ride on a foreign land. IDP helps you rent a car or bike without much of a fuss when you are travelling abroad.

Steps To Apply For International Driving Permit 

• Visit Sarathi Parivahan Website
• Select State ‘Tamil Nadu’
• Select ‘Apply For International Driving Permit (IDP)’ Option
• Fill Applicant/Request Details
• Upload Documents (if required)
• Upload Photo and Signature if required (applicable only in certain states)
• Driving Licence Test Slot Booking -required only for Additional Endorsement of Driving Licence(AEDL)
• Payment of Fee
• Verify the Pay Status
• Print the Receipt

International Driving Permit  Fees

• IDP Class of Vehicle Fees Rs.1500/-.

Documents Required For International Driving Permit 

• Application in Form 4A generated through online.
• Valid Driving License.
• Valid Passport.
• Valid Visa.
• Medical certificate in Form 1-A.
• Valid proof of Indian Nationality

Note:
1) Select the RTO whose jurisdiction falls under the current Present Address of the Driving Licence Holder.

2) DL Number can be entered in any format. For example if DL Number is : RJ-14/DLC/00/91059 then it can be entered in any one of the below mentioned formats :
i) RJ14 20000091059 (or)
ii) RJ1420000091059 (or)
iii) RJ14 /2000/0091059 (or)
iv) RJ-1420000091059
