Who Can Apply For Scholarship?

3. Resident of Chennai, Coimbatore, or Madurai

Everest Scholarship Rules

1. Parentless or Single Parented:
The scholarship is open to students who have lost both their parent or one of them. The students whose parents are alive but are separated are also eligible for this scholarship.

2. School Background:
The applicant should be from Government or Government aided or Corporation schools or any Free Schools. Private school students with Plus-2 School fees less than Rs 20,000 per year or studied with the help of a Sponsor are also eligible for this Scholarship.

3. Residing City:
Student should be willing to study in any of the colleges in Chennai, Coimbatore or Madurai and should be residing in these 3 cities during their complete graduation course. The student should be readily available for weekend training programs and internships in any of these cities.

4. Good Academic Scores:
The student should have scored minimum 60% or above to be eligible for this scholarship

5. Represent a Financial Aid:
The family income should be less than Rs 2 Lakhs per annum to be eligible for this scholarship

6. Age:
Students from Chennai, Coimbatore & Madurai who have completed their plus-2 in March 2020 are eligible for this scholarship to join college. Students who have completed Plus-2 earlier or currently studying in College are not eligible for this Scholarship program.

7. Professional Degree:
The student should be willing to study any of the degree offerings in Arts & Science, Engineering, Law or Medicine. Diploma, Polytechnic Courses and Teacher training are not supported through this scholarship.

8. Merit Quota:
Student can join any accredited colleges in Chennai, Coimbatore & Madurai through Merit quota only. Admission under management quota is not allowed.

Selection Process

Eligibility Check (School and Mark Check):
With the details we get from the students when they apply and internal verification, we find if the student passes our following eligibility criteria:

** The student should be parentless or single parented.
** The student should reside in Chennai, or Coimbatore, or Madurai.
** The student should have passed 12th std in 2020 with more than 60%.

We shortlist students who match the eligibility criteria for the next step.

Virtual School & Parent Interview:
The students whoever passes our eligibility check will get a call from one of our volunteers. The volunteer will conduct an interview for the student and parent. This is to get to know them better. The terms of the scholarship are explained in detail.

Virtual Skill Assessment:
After the interview, the volunteer will carry out an assessment for the student. The test will be on Tamil, English, and Maths. This is to assess the skills of the students.

Virtual Orientation:
Once the student completes the assessment, we will share an orientation video about the scholarship program. The student has to watch the video to understand about the scholarship better.

Virtual Home Visit:
Student should share a video recording of them saying why they need this scholarship. Along with that video, students will share a few pictures of their house too to the volunteer in WhatsApp.

Pre Final Interview (SEED):
All the terms of the scholarship are explained to the student including financial assistance, skill training, internships and volunteering activities.

Final Interview:
The students who are shortlisted for this step will have a final telephonic interview . The students are asked if they would be able to commit to attending all the trainings provided.
